Seam rings are the simplest of rings, consisting of polished wire that must be bent open and closed to install and remove. These simple seam rings feature a ball and socket closure for a smoother seam.

Rough sizing guidelines. Differences in placement and anatomy will influence the "best" fit:

• 5/16" (8mm): common for tragus, and helix piercings, generally tighter fit for lobe piercings
  
• 3/8" (10mm): loose fit for most helix piercings, smaller than average for conch
• 7/16" (11mm): common size for conch piercings
• 1/2" (12.5mm): common size for conch piercings
