Piercer Julie Moody will be available by appointment Thursdays – Mondays.
I began piercing in 2004 while attending Georgia Southern University for English. I initially sought a job piercing, because I needed employment during college, and I didn’t want to remove my own piercings or change my hair to a “normal” color. At this time, I was fortunate enough to have a colleague alert me to the fact that I was not being properly trained as a piercer. He suggested that I look into the Association of Professional Piercers for guidance. Luckily, I was only a couple months into my training when this was brought to my attention.
In an effort to receive more guidance and knowledge about piercing, I began reaching out to more skilled practitioners than the one I was training under. I started making changes to better the jewelry at the company I was working for in addition to going to conferences held by the Association of Professional Piercers and taking as many classes as possible. During this time, I met several skilled piercers that took me under their wing. It wasn’t until I was about 2 years into piercing that I realized it was all I thought about. Although I never finished college, I took as many classes as I could, if I thought that would help me in my journey with piercing. This also included some training in Metals and Jewelry at the Savannah College of Art and Design and a minor in Anthropology at Georgia Southern University.
Through the years, I have been fortunate enough to work for several high quality studios across the country. I have been able to team up with local health departments to better safety regulations in the piercing industry. I have been able to design beautiful works of art for top of the line body jewelry companies. I have been allowed to facilitate piercings for clients from all walks of life adorning themselves for representation of various life events and symbologies. I am truly lucky that my career is so multifaceted and bleeds into so many different avenues of existence.
I recall traveling to Atlanta to get pierced at Piercing Experience in the beginning of my career in an effort to observe the best of the best and look forward to bringing my best full circle to Piercing Experience. In my off time, you can find me treating my dogs like children, enjoying live music, and attempting to teach myself various different skills through youtube guidance. I look forward to being part of your Piercing Experience.
