You must have valid state or federally issued photo I.D. to get pierced, regardless of age.
We will not pierce you if you appear under the influence of drugs or alcohol or if you have been so in the past 24 hours.
You must avoid blood thinners, including pain relievers (Advil/Motrin/ibuprofen, Aleve/naproxen, aspirin, etc) and/or alcohol for at least 12 hours prior to your piercing.
We can only perform limited piercings on minors and more paperwork is required to get pierced. Please see the answer to our FAQ on minors for an explanation.
To help avoid a blood sugar crash, you must have something to eat within 2 hours prior to getting pierced.
You must not have any health conditions that would prevent a safe piercing, including but not limited to: pregnancy/nursing, hemophilia, cold/flu, infections, compromised immune system, etc. Some health conditions will require a waiver from your doctor. Please call us to discuss any potential problem conditions.
We accept cash and major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Card.
Only children (anyone under 18) getting pierced are allowed in the piercing room. Any other children present must have another adult to supervise them in the lobby. We cannot allow unsupervised children in the studio.
We will perform a maximum of 2-3 piercings at one time, depending on location and difficulty of care. We do not perform cartilage piercings on both ears at the same time.
All in-store jewelry installations must be performed by our piercers. For your safety, self-installation is not allowed in the studio.
If you decide not to go through with your piercing once you are taken back into the piercing room for your procedure, there will be a $25 supply fee charged. This also applies if your piercer feels it is not safe to complete your piercing.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

Only children under 18 getting pierced are allowed in the studio.
For those under 18, we will only schedule one appointment per visit.
Jewelry Policies
We perform new piercings with jewelry which meets ASTM standards.
We cannot install jewelry purchased elsewhere into either new or healed piercings. It’s almost impossible to provide proof that jewelry meets appropriate standards and has not been previously worn. We also cannot accept liability for potential damages to jewelry not purchased in our store.
We cannot install damaged jewelry and/or jewelry that is inappropriate for the piercing.
For your health and safety, we do not accept returns, exchanges, or trades on jewelry. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Previously worn jewelry (purchased at Piercing Experience) must go through additional cleaning steps to be safe to install in new or healed piercings. This process takes additional time, and currently requires an appointment to be scheduled to drop off the jewelry at least 2 days prior to installation. The jewelry will also be inspected for damage and must be an appropriate design and size.
Titanium and gold jewelry with manufacturers defects will be returned to the manufacturer for repair/replacement. Each manufacturer has slightly different details, but these guarantees protect against manufacturer defects and generally guarantee that threads or pins will not strip or break, and gemstones will not fall out or change color. This process can take several weeks or longer. Once we’ve received and inspected your repaired or replaced piece from the manufacturer, we will sterilize it and return it to you.
These guarantees do not include intentional damage or misuse such as damage from tools like pliers, or loss or theft. It also doesn’t cover ends that come off due to snagging or un-tightened threads, so make sure to check your jewelry regularly.
Appointments strongly recommended. We have limited availability for walk-ins, on a first come, first served basis. We cannot guarantee piercer availability without an appointment. Click here to request an appointment via the website.
Appointments outside of regular hours (either studio or piercer’s scheduled hours): A deposit equal to the piercing fee is required to secure the appointment, which will be applied to your charges for the piercing. Appointments are available at the discretion of the available piercer. An automatic 25% gratuity will be included. 24 hour cancellation notice is necessary to receive a refund of the deposit. Appointments canceled less than 24 hours, or those arriving more than 15 minutes late, are not eligible for a refund or credit.
Tipping Etiquette
Gratuity/tips are accepted and appreciated, as in any other service industry. We strive to treat every client with the same care and attention.
Studio Etiquette
We understand this may be one of the first times you’ve been in a piercing studio, so you may be unfamiliar with the “rules”. Here are some guidelines:
Please keep keys, bags, and other items off the jewelry showcases. Items can scratch the glass and also obstruct the view of the jewelry.
Please touch jewelry with provided tools/pointers, do not directly touch the jewelry. We understand that everything is pretty and shiny, but to keep it that way, we ask that you only touch with provided tools. Otherwise, things get dirty and aren’t pretty or safe for piercing anymore.
Please do not touch or handle your piercing in the studio. This is both for your safety and for the safety of other guests and our staff. Touching a piercing both risks transferring germs to it, risking infection, and can transfer germs from your piercing to other surfaces in the studio. If we see you touch your piercing, we will offer you a hand sanitizer wipe.
If you are bringing in worn jewelry, please seal it in a plastic bag or container before you arrive. Similar to touching your piercing, worn jewelry may have problematic germs on it. Having it sealed in a bag/container allows our staff to safely handle it until we can start any necessary cleaning/reprocessing.
We do pierce children, but the studio isn’t necessarily “child-proof”. We’re pretty much a jewelry store, with glass jewelry showcases and some fragile items. There’s hard corners and old wood floors. As such, children must be well behaved to safely be in the studio. No running or jumping, no sitting on showcases. Please keep hands (and faces) off of our glass. For the safety of our piercers and piercees, we cannot allow children who are not being pierced in the actual piercing room (friends, siblings, etc). We do require children in the lobby to be supervised by an adult. Our staff cannot be responsible for the safety of your children. If a child is being loud or disruptive, we may ask to have them taken outside for the comfort of our other guests and staff.
We want to provide a calm environment for those getting pierced and our piercers. Please silence your cell phones before entering our studio and take any phone calls outside. If you’re going to listen to music or anything else on your phone, please use headphones. Please keep conversations at a low volume. Little noises quickly add up to a frenetic and loud environment.
Please limit guests to 1-2 per piercee. We understand wanting moral support when getting a piercing, but our lobby and piercing rooms are both small. Additional folks start to get in the way of others trying to work with our staff and start to raise the noise level. We also ask that you keep conversations low in volume so our staff can hear those they’re working with and don’t have to shout. Guests are only permitted in the piercing room at the piercer’s discretion.
The health department prohibits any animals besides certified service dogs. This means we cannot allow emotional support or other animals in the studio.
Large Parties
For parties of 3 or larger, we reserve the right to add a gratuity of 18% to your service charges.
