Piercer Job Description

Piercing Experience has an opening for a qualified piercer.  We will offer continuing education for a well rounded piercer, and are open to new ideas. We have a long history of using state of the art technology and techniques to ensure the safety of our clientele. All procedures are performed using aseptic methods and without tools. All jewelry for initial piercings is from the best manufacturers in the business and meets standards for human implant. We do not use externally threaded, steel, or acrylic jewelry.

Piercer Job Description

Piercing Experience is looking for a professional body piercer versed in aseptic freehand technique and jewelry safety standards. Candidate should be an APP member or meet/exceed membership requirements, show a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive at different paces throughout the day with  good customer service and sales skills. We expect tolerance and professionalism when working with a broad variety of clients including LGBT, fetish, etc.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following related subjects:

- practical application of aseptic technique, cross contamination, donning sterile gloves
- piercing and jewelry insertion procedures tool-free or with minimal disposable items
- applicable jewelry material science and construction
- proper jewelry selection
- anatomy and histology
- wound healing science

In addition to performing piercing services, a piercer will be expected to perform the following:

- jewelry sales/insertions
- client consultations
- answer client questions in person, by phone, and online
- clean and maintain piercing rooms and sterilization area
- assist with jewelry merchandising and stocking
- participate in marketing and community outreach

Licensing by the DeKalb County Health Department Environmental Health Division is required. First-aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens training must be up to date. The studio is inspected and approved by the County and the APP.

Our new piercer would begin on a trial basis as a guest, and we will determine what sort of contract we would like to offer. Once we decide to add a piercer on a permanent basis, it would be as an employee of PE and paid on commission. Other compensation will include discounts on services and jewelry, company phone, etc.
